In 2026 we are debuting monthly themes to ensure a variety of books are selected throughout the year to accommodate the wide-variety of interests of our members.
Please keep the themes in mind when suggesting books.
January – Classic or Historical Fiction
📚 People often start the year ambitious and cozy, so this could be a good “big” or “challenging” book month.
February – Romance or Rom-Com
❤ Fits perfectly with Valentine’s Day.
March – Mystery or Thriller
🕵 Fresh, engaging, and crowd-pleasing—helps people out of the winter slump.
April – Memoir or Autobiography
🌱 New beginnings, real-life inspiration, and lighter nonfiction before summer.
May – Wild Card
🃏 Open suggestions. Maybe something that doesn’t fit another
monthly theme, genre—defying, or that you think is timely.
June – Mystery or Thriller
🔥 A second dose of the group’s favorite genre for summer.
July – Beach Reads
☀ Light, fun, escapist reads—romance, thrillers, or family dramas.
August – Fantasy or Sci-Fi
✨ Good time for imaginative or cozy fantasy like House in the Cerulean Sea or sci-fi the whole group can enjoy like Project Hail Mary.
September – Historical Fiction
🍂 Fall back into something a little richer and more atmospheric.
October – Horror or Autumnal
🎃 Seasonal, could be horror, lighter gothic, or fall themed as not
everyone loves scary.
November – Non-Fiction
📰 Works well before the holidays when people may be busy but
want something meaningful, thoughtful, reflective.
December – Book Books (books about books, libraries, bookshops or reading)
🎄 A fun, cozy, meta theme to wrap up the year with something we
book lovers are always thankful for.
